Our ten-week program meets for three hours each week, at times and locations convenient to your schedule. The cost is affordable, ranging from $35 – $300, depending on your income and education. Small Businesses – those with fewer than 50 employees – and entrepreneurship are critical drivers of the rural economy in Western North Carolina. With over 98,000 established businesses in Rural North Carolina, these businesses represent nearly 95% of all businesses in operating in Rural North Carolina.

Small Businesses generate the most business and job growth in rural areas. Establishments with fewer than 50 employees accounted for 99% of all new establishments created between 1998 and 2002. These same businesses generated more than $14.5 billion in wages and provided jobs for over 614,000 people in 2002.

In 2003, MMF Alumni created over 185 new businesses and more than 230 jobs. Of these Alumni, over 50% were women and 29% were racial or ethnic minorities.
